Pedigree:
30th April 2008: I have a litter! Babies should be excellent quality longcoats - this was a breeding for coat quality and conformation before colour. Mum carries blue so there's a chance the babies will as well. Here's what we've got:
3rd May 2008: Here's the boys:
And the girls:
7th May 2008: Unfortunately we lost one of the two black self boys - I don't know what happened. He went missing on one of the coldest nights, though, and mum is the worst nest-builder I've ever seen! After his disappearance, I made my own nest in an appropriate house, all built-up with litter and lined with bedding, and moved the babies in there myself. She looked like she was going to move it at first, but the next morning she'd obviously realised I knew best XD MORE PICTURES!
9th May 2008: This litter has proved very interesting, genetically-speaking. If Indah carries siamese, then the babies can be either c(h)c(e) - colourpoint beige - or c(h)c - himalayan. This seems strange, as the black-eyed boy isn't really dark enough to be cpb and the ruby-eyed bubs aren't light enough to be himalayan. However, now I have had a revelation! I have been thinking Loki is c(e)c but I am not right! I had been remembering that because the REVERSE SIAMESE gene acts like c(e) when heterozygous. That's right, Loki's father was a reservey. SO! I'm not sure where that puts us, exactly, as Indah doesn't carry reverse, but it does make things a bit more interesting! The dark boy must be a siamese, because as far as I recall, crossing a siamese and a reverse siamese seems to produce 'bad siameses', phenotypically. EDITOR'S NOTE: The "bad siameses" are actually colourpoint beige. 13th May 2008: Aw, man, these are the most beautiful babies ever! Half of them have amazing coats already, the other half are still deciding. There's one "himalayan" boy in particular who is beautiful - and the "siamese" boy is just adorable. I think I am going to have to keep a boy - probably the siamese boy, and a himalayan girl. Their temperaments are also outstanding. They should be popcorning around but they're really into me already, climbing all over me. The little runt, a himalayan boy, is extra explorative and because he's really little it's oh so cute!! |
