4th October 2008: Last night young Luna gave birth to 8 beautiful healthy babies, and is being a wonderful mum already. She really is a bit young to be breeding, but with Loki's brother Odie having fertility issues and his sister needing to be euthanised recently due to a head tilt, I was started to seriously worry about getting a second litter out of him - which I had planned all along. I purchased Luna to mate to him in a few months time, but decided to fast-track it just in case. As it turned out, I needn't have worried - she got pregnant the first night they were together! I will update as colours develop, but am expecting mostly blacks and judging by a couple of pink eyes in the litter, PEWs.

8th October 2008: Apparently I miscounted - we have 9 beautiful babies! A huge litter for my little girl, but she's coping beautifully - a doting mum. There's only 1 pink-eyed bub, which I assume will be PEW, 2 pale black-eyed bubs which may be bone like dad, and the rest look to be black - as I had expected. Unfortunately at first glance they seem to be mostly boys - drat! But I suppose it doesn't matter what colour the girl is that I keep - they'll all carry blue, which was the whole point of the litter!

13th October 2008: Ok, here's the list of what I think we've got.

  • 1 x himalayan longcoat rex girl - TANYA
  • 1 x colourpoint beige longcoat girl - STAYING (Hanako)
  • 1 x black tan longcoat girl - PIXIE
  • 1 x black tan longcoat rex girl - TRACY (Autumn)
  • 1 x black tan longcoat rex boy - ALIVIA (Fang)
  • 3 x black tan longcoat boys - 1 ALIVIA (Xander), 2 SHARZ
  • 1 x chocolate longcoat boy - TANYA (Spider)

20th October 2008: So it turns out that the pink-eyed bub looks like she's going to be himalayan - she is utterly adorable, I am tempted to keep her, even though she isn't really suitable for my breeding plans. The pale black-eyed bub looks to be siamese, which means she's really a sort of 'false colourpoint beige' - c(h)c(reverse). For those who don't know, when the reverse siamese gene interacts with other c-locus genes, it acts as c(e) would - and c(h)c(e) is colourpoint beige. Half the litter should carry reverse, incidentally, as Loki carries - but this is the only bub I know carries for sure. The brown boy I *swear* is chocolate - he's so rich and chocolatey, not what I'd expect from a mock. Have some more photos!

28th October 2008: Here's some updated pics of this litter. They are just adorable. Funnily enough, some bubs look just like mum and some look just like dad. I don't recall having a litter where the resemblance has been so clear before! I am definitely keeping the colourpoint beige girl - she is Loki's spitting image and has the biggest eyes of the litter - just what I was hoping for! The black longcoat rex girl also has great eyes, and one or two of the black longcoats. The rest looks a bit more like mum, who is still beautiful, mind you! I still don't know who else I will be keeping, if any - I *adore* the himalayan rex girl, she is just *so cute* - but, she's no good to me for breeding blues, so I'll probably try and convince myself to keep one of the black girls. In any case, on with the photos!

4th November 2008: Ok, updated photos! The bubs are all insane, btw :P They're soo friendly, but also completely nuts. Zipping around everywhere and into absolutely everything. Especially the little chocolate boy - he is so precocious!
