25th September 2009: I'll update with some info in a bit, for now, here's a teaser pic of this beautiful litter:
29th September 2009: Another quick pic taken today:
7th October 2009: Right, then. This was a bit of a surprise litter, though it was technically planned. I had Monkey in with Forensics in two sessions for a total of nearly 2 months, then 2.5 weeks after I finally gave up and removed her, she gave birth! She is a pet shop girl, and her age is estimated, but she was right at the end of her safe breeding age. Regardless, she had an easy birth of 5 beautiful and INCREDIBLY FAT pinkies - 3 girls and 2 boys. I think that Aven must be feeding them as well, although her babies are weaned, they are all in the same cage together. The only time I've seen babies as fat as these was when I had a litter of 1 some years ago. They're incredible. There are 2 black tans - a boy and a girl - a female PEW and 2 "black" eyed whites/bones - a boy and a girl. Something weird has happened. When they were born, I noticed that the 2 "black" eyed babies didn't have the same eye colour. Really, it looks like I had 1 pink eyed, 1 black eyed, and 1 ruby eyed. The presence of the PEW indicates that Monkey carries c (dad was a bone), so I figure that the other 2 white bubs have to be bone. A ruby-eyed bone?? And, really, it's not even ruby... it's more like black, but with a glowing red pupil. It's very odd. Further, this bub squints - I've never seen him open his eyes fully, which the other bubs are doing by now. I'm wondering if he's a bit 'special'? I'll try and get a pic of it compared to black today, but I don't know if it will photograph well. 9th October 2009: I just found a mammary tumour on Monkey :( So her beautiful blackness, which she has passed onto her black tan daughter, will have to come to an end. The risk in dealing with pet shop mice :( The bubs will be good showies, of course (Monkey has won the conformation class a couple of times, and you know how beautiful Forensics is from Aven's litter), but not so good for breeding. So, we have: 1 x black tan girl - PIXIE (Jodi) 16th October 2009: One of the beautiful girls, who is going to live with Alivia:
